(REUTERS) - Liverpool's stunning victory over Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday (May 7) was made possible by the belief manager Jurgen Klopp has instilled in his squad, according to Jose Mourinho.
Liverpool produced one of the greatest comebacks in the competition's history to beat Barcelona 4-0, overturning a three-goal first-leg deficit to advance to their second consecutive final with a 4-3 aggregate victory.
"For me, this has one name - Jurgen," Mourinho, who led Porto and Inter Milan to the Champions League title, told beIN Sports.
"This is about him. This is a reflection of his personality - don't give up - his fighting spirit, every player giving everything.
"He's not crying because he's missing (injured) players, he's not crying because they're playing 50 or 60 matches a season... Today is about Jurgen's mentality.
"This is not about tactics, not about philosophy. This is about heart and soul and fantastic empathy he has created with that group of players."
Liverpool risked finishing the season without a trophy with Manchester City leading the Premier League title race with one game to go and Barcelona heavy favourites to advance to the final after a commanding win at the Nou Camp.

But the thrilling victory over the Spanish champions gave the Merseyside club a chance of winning a sixth European Cup when they face either Tottenham Hotspur or Ajax Amsterdam in the final on June 1.
"I didn't expect (this result)," Mourinho, who also coached Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United, added. "I said if it's possible, Anfield is one of the places to make it possible.
"They were at risk of finishing a fantastic season with nothing to celebrate and now they are one step away from being European champions."

LONDON (REUTERS) - Chelsea forward Eden Hazard is set to join Real Madrid after a deal worth â‚¬100 million (S$150 million) plus add-ons was agreed between the two clubs on Thursday, British and Spanish media reported.
There was no official word from Madrid or London.
Spain's AS sports daily, citing unnamed sources, said on its website that the Premier League side had accepted Real's offer for the 28-year-old.
It said Hazard, who is training with Belgium ahead of a weekend Euro 2020 qualifier against Kazakhstan, had been informed and the deal could be announced later.
Sky Sports television said Chelsea had wanted in the region of Â£130 million (S$225 million), a fee that could ultimately be reached through performance-related clauses.
Hazard, who was set to become a free agent in June 2020, guided Chelsea to the Europa League title in Baku last month with two goals in a 4-1 win over London rivals Arsenal.
"My dream was to play in the Premier League and I did it for seven years. I think it's a goodbye," he said after that game.
He joined Chelsea from Lille in 2012 for Â£32 million and won the Europa League in his first season.
He later won the Premier League title in 2015 and 2017 as well as one League Cup and FA Cup.
He scored 16 goals and created another 15 in the Premier League last season as Chelsea finished third in the table.

BARCELONA (AFP) - Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has admitted he views Atletico Madrid as a greater threat to his side winning La Liga this season than Real Madrid.
Atletico, who play Getafe on Saturday (Jan 26), sit five points behind Barca in the table while Real's stuttering campaign means they are already 10 adrift of the league leaders.
Real have shown signs of a return to form in recent weeks, having won four out of their last five matches, including an impressive victory over Sevilla.
Sevilla sit third, ahead of Real on goal difference, but after playing a game more.
"We look more at who is immediately behind us," Valverde said at a press conference on Saturday.
"I value both Atletico and Real Madrid very highly because one is a great team and the other never gives up. But you have to look more at the one that is five points behind."
Barcelona have made four signings in the January transfer window, their latest move a â‚¬75 million (S$115 million) deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who will arrive in July.
De Jong has said he spoke to both Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola and Paris Saint-Germain's Thomas Tuchel before making his decision, but not Valverde.
"You cannot talk to a player who has a contract elsewhere and it's not my way of doing things," Valverde said. "I have nothing more to say about it."
Kevin Prince-Boateng has also arrived from Sassuolo and Jeison Murillo from Valencia, each on loan, while Jean-Clair Todibo has agreed to join from Toulouse next summer.
Asked if he has the final say on signings, Valverde said: "I talk to the technical committee and we have normal conversations. I never speak in absolute terms, that someone has to come, no ifs or buts. We speak generally and talk about options."

DENIS SUAREZ, MALCOM COULD LEAVE

Valverde has admitted the club could allow fringe players to leave this month, with Denis Suarez and Malcom both linked with moves away.
Suarez was dropped from the squad to face Sevilla in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday to make way for Boateng, while Malcom started, but struggled, and came off after 63 minutes. Both are in the squad to face Girona.

"He has many qualities," said Valverde, speaking about Malcom.
"He is direct and can make something happen.
"He has to be more aggressive and have more consistency in his game. Nothing is missing but there are others who play and you have to choose between them all."
Barcelona's game against Girona at Montilivi on Sunday had been the fixture identified by La Liga to be played in the United States.
The plan, however, fell through due to a lack of support from governing bodies like Fifa and the Spanish FA (RFEF), although both Barca and Girona had supported the idea.
"I saw it as a distant option," Valverde said.
"They had to fulfil conditions for it to be played in Miami that in the end were not fulfilled.
"We were willing to play where they said, it was not important to us and I didn't lose sleep about it. We will see in the future."
Ousmane Dembele will miss the game this weekend with an ankle injury while Samuel Umtiti is still recovering from a knee problem. Rafinha is also out with a ruptured cruciate ligament.

MADRID (AFP) - Lionel Messi wants Ernesto Valverde to continue as Barcelona coach but admits the team have not recovered from their Champions League loss to Liverpool as they face Valencia in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday (May 25).
After winning LaLiga by 11 points, Barca can complete a domestic double by beating Valencia in Seville, but even that will not erase the disappointment of throwing away a three-goal lead at Anfield.
Valverde conceded his future was uncertain after the loss but the club's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has since said the coach will remain in charge.
"I honestly believe the boss has done an impressive job during his time in charge," Messi said at a press conference on Friday (May 24).
"I think that in the defeat to Liverpool, he is practically blameless, we are the only ones to blame for that match.
"That can happen one year. but two years in a row is unforgivable. The boss will obviously be partly to blame but it is the players even more.
"I would like him to continue. Last year, we did the double and even though it was stained by getting knocked out of the Champions League, this year we can win the double again.

"If you look at his two years, there have been two bad games, but beyond those the rest has been good." Valverde was also asked again about his future.
"I have no complaints from the president or the board," said Valverde, who added: "You seem very worried, don't worry so much."
Barcelona were desperate to win the Champions League, after failing to reach the final in four consecutive years while also watching Real Madrid lift the trophy three times in a row.
Since losing to Liverpool, Valverde's team have beaten Getafe 2-0 at Camp Nou before ending the league season with a 2-2 draw away at Eibar on Sunday.
"We are still recovering from the game against Liverpool, at least I am, I just want to win this final and finish the year with another title," Messi said.
"It was a very hard blow and both I and the whole club have had a hard time lifting ourselves, which I think has been shown in the matches we have played since.
"It was hard but that's it, this is a final, it is a title and we have the chance to do a double.
"We need to think that we have to win, like in any other final that we play. Obviously not winning this final would be make things even worse."
Barcelona are chasing a record fifth consecutive Copa del Rey triumph to go with their eight La Liga titles in the last 11 years.
"After a bump so big we have to face things with integrity," said Valverde.
"You cannot hide your head in a hole and disappear off the map. We responded after Anfield in La Liga and now we cannot wriggle out in the cup.
"We have to go all out for a title we have been pursuing since January."
Valverde said Nelson Semedo has recovered from his head injury and is likely to be available while late decisions will be made on Arthur Melo and Philippe Coutinho, who are close to shaking off hamstring and thigh injuries respectively.
But Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele are all out, with Jasper Cillessen expected to start in goal.
Unlike Barcelona, Valencia are flying high after completing a late-season surge by finishing fourth in La Liga last weekend.
The club has not lifted trophy since they won the Copa del Rey in 2008.
"We have the experience that we have," coach Marcelino said on Friday. "There may be something missing in that regard but for sure, we have plenty of heart."

Emery wants wins, not clean sheets

Arsenal have won the joint most points in the final 10 minutes of matches this season, but relying heavily on second-half turnarounds and late shows could only go on for so long.
At the heart of the problem is their defensive record - Arsenal remain the only Premier League team without an away clean sheet.
Emery had cut an increasingly animated and frustrated figure on the touchline as his team failed to kill off Huddersfield in the first period, even surviving a strong penalty appeal after Jason Puncheon's shot struck the arm of Laurent Koscielny after 25 minutes.
"That is me," he said, explaining his antics. "It is my personality. If I am here, it is because in my career I progressed like that. If for one moment I thought it's negative, then I wouldn't do it."

LONDON â€¢ The English Premier League could have an unusually intense battle for fifth place next season if Manchester City are banned from European football for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
Uefa sources have confirmed that England would retain four Champions League places if City are excluded from the competition in 2020-21, which was the recommendation of the investigatory chamber of Uefa's club financial control body (CFCB) when the Premier League champions were formally charged last week.
Given that Pep Guardiola's side, who sealed a domestic treble with victory in the FA Cup final, are almost certain to finish in the top four next season, their Champions League place would pass to the team who are fifth in the Premier League, should they be suspended.
The allocation of Champions League spots is in the hands of the Football Association, but there is no prospect of a place being given to the FA or League Cup winners.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have qualified for the Champions League despite finishing below fourth in the Premier League in recent years as a result of winning European competitions, but no English team have qualified by finishing fifth.
The FA Cup winners are theoretically rewarded with a place in the Europa League. However, after City's emphatic 6-0 win over Watford at Wembley last Saturday, the extra spot for next season has gone to Wolves, who finished seventh in their first season in the Premier League since 2012.
City has strongly denied the charge of falsely declaring a Â£59.5 million (S$104.2 million) payment from its holding company as a sponsorship deal from Etihad Airways to circumvent financial fair play regulations in 2015. Their fate is to be decided by the adjudicatory chamber of the CFCB.
The club will be granted a personal hearing by Uefa at its headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, presided over by the CFCB chairman Jose Narciso da Cunha Rodrigues, who was formerly a judge at the European Court of Justice.
A date has yet to be set for the hearing. However, it is not thought to be imminent and, with City planning to appeal if necessary, there is no chance that there will be a Champions League ban in place by the beginning of next season.
